My dreadful weekend with Sony Pictures...*

Tuesday, October 24, 2006 12:44:25 AM (GMT Standard Time, UTC+00:00)

Last weekend, I decided to reunite myself with one of my favorite pastimes, watching movies. The lucky pictures that caught my eye this week were: a) the well publicized Open Season - animation - and; b) some flick called Zoom (where it came from, I have not a clue) but it stars Tim "the tool man" Taylor! aka Tim Allen. Both movies of which are from Sony Pictures. (One can see trailers for each at the sites mentioned above.)

To do a quick an dirty review (that is if the topic hasn't given it away already), both were (n)! I give Open Season 5/10 and Zoom 3/10.

I may be a bit cruel on Open Season because it did have its funny parts like the Scottish squirrels and the kung-fu trout, but I really thought it would've been better (ie funnier) as the cuts I saw alluded to (yes, those previews trick me every time!). And Zoom, oh my, I not even going there, when I saw it start, I said, well, at least there's Tim, but... even he couldn't save that.

Conclusion: Stay home and get kix from YouTube or MetaCafe, or get me to forward you some nice emails. PS, it's not only me that thinks Open Season was a -ve, check these big review sites, here and here. Also, as one would see from this page, Zoom not even rated by the critics! lol. I wonder why...

What on earth were you thinking? Zoom and Open Season? Watch something worthwhile like The Departed, The Lost City, An Inconvenient Truth, or Fearless (if you _must_ watch a movie at the cinema). What on earth would possess you to watch those two movies, please tell me you were taking out a younger family member.

Hey! I thought that Open Season would've been some good laughs! That trailer is fun! Esp. the squirrels!! :\
Hmm, The Departed, The Lost City, An Inconvenient Truth eh? The cuts for Departed didn't really look... that appealing at all. I mean, sure it has alot of stars but so did Oceans 12. ... I'm looking more at Guardian, even though this site, only gave it a rating of C. We'll see though. ALso, Fearless? From what I've heard that has voice over ie a (n).

Well really and truly. . .Open Season WAS disappointing especially since you got all these 'stars' lining up to do the voices of animated characters - so now the writers need to step up and give the 'stars' something to work with. If I was Martin Lawrence or Ashton Kutcher I would think twice about doing another pic like that.
Zoom, altho poor, wasn't as disappointing really cuz going in I didn't really know what the heck to expect! Till (as was said) Tim Allen appeared and lifted my hopes slightly - all in all um. . . more imagination needed. I could actually see the writers trying for a part two.
