What do you see come up FIRST in the Results list?
!
And I did no registering, submitting a site, begging, writing threatening emails, nothing. Its all thanks to Google's sweet, efficient search technology.
Can you find me on Yahoo! ? or... Ask.com ? or... AltaVista? Nope, Nope, Nope. Why? Because I haven't yet gone through the tedious process of Suggesting/Submitting my site to their web crawlers.
You ask: Hmm, but, why should one have to suggest a site if it's a "web crawler"...? Shouldn't it just crawl the Web for the search term?
I reply: To consider it, it seems like, their web crawlers only crawl sites in their DB (of sites) and not sites directly on the Web itself.
You ask: But, that'd make it a "DB crawler" kinda wouldn't it...?
I reply: No comment.
In Summary: This is why I use Google as my default engine for Web searching.
(PS. 1. No, Google has not sponsored this post; 2. I do not dislike Yahoo!, I actually like them a lot, they're the top portal on the Web! Just that their search technology isn't my cup-o-tea; 3. Ask.com - never used it; AltaVista - ... I like Babel Fish? ..)
