Champions League final - Moscow*

Wednesday, May 21, 2008 7:54:26 AM (GMT Standard Time, UTC+00:00)

CLFinal08

Another year, another glorious final lined up. UK fans, you can catch it live on iTV or, of course, your nearest pub from around 7pm. Barbadian fans, if you're free (i.e. you're a student), ESPN Deportes should be televising this around 2.45pm. Otherwise (i.e. you work) you may have to follow live textual coverage on Soccernet or your favourite IRC channel (I remember #soccer on DalNet being a good option).

If time permits, I'll be wat... wait a minute.. CL final? No no, I WILL be watching this on iTV tonight AND wearing my Liverpool F.C. jersey! All ManU and Chelski fans, my regards!

Well, it's all over now. Congratulations Manchester United.

Chelsea? Anelka was a horrible purchase. Drogba.. well, Abramovich will deal with you.. possibly the same will be in for Grant as well. We'll see.

I wouldn't say anelka was a waste. He hasn't played badly in my opinion. Sadly, Chelsea is in the unfortunate position in being up against an unstoppable force in the form of Man United, and Christiano Ronaldo, who is now, on current form, undeniably the best player in the world. Good work by Chelsea and Abramovich, but no one, not even a russian billionaire can stand in the way of this Man U squad and destiny. Twice unlucky, yes, but they couldn't have lost to a better team. There's no shame in losing out to the best team in the world.

We differ in opinion there; to me Anelka was not a good buy. I keep hearing about his potential but I simply can not see it. Since Pool brought him to the Prem, his performance has been mediocre.

Conversely I must agree that Man U has been on fire this year and when they were not, they still got the required result. So, destiny.. Yes, I think that's most fitting word to use. Analogous to Pool in 2005 really. Because, let's not forget, Chelsea's win was in Terry's hands not Van De Sar's. Furthermore, your best player in the world WAS saved.

So let's just leave it at destiny. :)
