8 ways to save money on rail travel*

Wednesday, November 25, 2009 11:24:01 AM (GMT Standard Time, UTC+00:00)

Well, it’s almost the new year, so you know what that means.. Time for train tickets costs to rise again! It seems it’s even going to be as much as 10% on some routes. I found a useful article on yahoo this morning detailing eight ways to keep your costs as low as possible. Here’s the link for the article, and below I’ve listed the 8 ways for quick reference.

1. Split your ticket – but not your journey
2. Buy two single tickets instead of an open return
3. Invest in a Railcard
4. Book in advance
5. Be careful where you buy
6. Avoid peak times
7. Avoid online booking fees
8. Get a refund on problem journeys

Happy travelling!
