BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, July 14, 2008 - Officials in Barbados are highlighting the importance of water resource management as that island stands as the 15th most water scarce nation on earth and the 16th most densely populated nation.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, National Insurance and Social Security (Special Assignments), Irvine Best, said that Barbados' limited water resources and management were of significant environmental, social and economic importance. (Full story)

I find both these statistics a bit scary.. Although, I do accept that B'dos is tiny, to be the 16th most densely populated.. wow.. I really would also like to know where the stats have been quoted from however. It's not clear at all on the aforementioned link.

We're even more densely populated than that. The number of illegal immigrants has pushed us well over the recorded population.

A bit worrying indeed.

I guess the main issues surface when it comes to the government providing services (health, housing, and even the water etc), to all these persons..
