Since I've hit the UK, both in my flat and at university, I've encountered Facebook junkies (users). I've even been somewhat threatened to sign up or run the risk of not being informed of parties and limes and such! So once again, I have had to open up and face the, "To join" or "Not To Join" question. In my attempt to decide on whether to sign up or not I came across some intriguing facts reports. The following was adapted from this BBC website:
Facebook has gone viral in the last 12 months, with more than 50 million users worldwide and a user base that is growing faster than great rival MySpace. According to Facebook, it adds 200,000 new users each day. [200,000? REALLY NOW?]
US research reveals that Facebook users come from wealthier homes and are more likely to attend college than MySpace users.
According to a report, 233 million hours of work are lost each month in the UK due to staff looking at social networks. [THIS... I believe.]
*sigh.. *Resume FB evaluation*.
