Now the Spirit expressly says...*

"Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer."

1 Timothy 4:1-5

I posted this passage especially because of an article a friend (thanks T!) directed me to in the EASY Magazine of last Sunday's Nation (May 27 pg 8 and 9) newspaper which spoke a bit on marriage. The article was titled, "Does living together [outside of marriage] ever really work?" and to respond, 3 (out of the 7 interviewed) - and notably 3 of the younger ones - made comments like, "I would live with someone, but I would never get married", "I'm not really into marriage. It's not worth it." and "I would not get married. Marriages today do not last very long, so what's the point?"

I think it's pretty sad that this is the view of some when it comes to marriage. Then again, I'm sure many think.."Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?". You know what I mean..

So.. what do you think? Or is it just me.. :|

Cont'd - We do have proof however of young people rushing into marriage for whatever reason, then smack dab in the middle of it all, realizing that they don't have the sticking power with the person they made that commitment to. Are they to stay in a broken marriage with adultery over their heads? What about my old mindset, that in order to have sex and be in the will of God I must be married, so let me get married fast to whoever, just so I can do my thing? I have seen and heard about many who rushed into marriage because of hormonal issues. Sigh, the book does prophesy for these times we live in, and we are merely seeing the fulfillment of the Word (because of this I really don't know why these things shock us, I am excited). Even if we marry or not, divorce or not, young and doing crap or not, my Daddy is Love and He is patient with us all in His mercy. He has given us freedom through choice, and every choice we make determine our circumstances and consequences. The key is to stop blaming others and generalizing everything in our lives, making it seem like other people are to blame for our own positions in life. It is just crazy and difficult as an individual to be living with someone who will not ultimately make a commitment. Oh the stress...some are comfortable in such conditions, however I am not, so I choose to be patient and get married (like I have a choice tee hee hee to be patient really)...Any takers..wink wink I'm cute...LOL
