Testing foreign (Ubuntu) waters!*

Sunday, April 15, 2007 2:22:29 AM (GMT Standard Time, UTC+00:00)

Well, since last week I've been thinking about trying out something different besides the same old Windows platform. SO! Yesterday, I did just that! I hopped over to Ubuntu.com, got what I needed and started the install process! Now.. a day, and some serious problems later (yes, serious!), I'm here! Blogging from Ubuntu! (By the way Ubuntu is a community developed, linux-based operating system... Yes, that's correct, I am using Linux!)

From what I've seen so far, it's pretty cool.. I really have to get used to this command line thing though, and also learning some basic linux commands. I'll definitely blog more on it later but for now I'm back to exploring! .. If only I can get this XChat working! *pff!*

X-chat isn't working, how odd. I've NEVER had any problems with xchat. If you want some command line goodness try out bitchx. :D

Anyway Jason, congrats on taking the plunge, and I may need to pick your brain for my next blog, so that users will side step landmines like not making the installation cd bootable, screen resolution issues, and setting the root password.

BitchX is a bit too taxing on the brain.. even though, just for fun I think I may give it a whirl.

First though, I want to get familiar with the linux commands... so far, with your help, I think I know a couple, ;).

The thing I'm currently trying to get sorted now is an blogging tool to interface with this blog. I've asked a nice fellow online about it and I hope he'll get back to me soon.

About your next article, sure, no prob! I've been thinking about documenting exactly what I did as well. Probably I'll note what I did and you can "host" it on your blog. Given you put credits to me of course, ;) ! jk! lol

I'd definitely give credit. Ripping articles online usually ends badly ... *looks around nervously ...
